Rebuild Better

How to Rebuild Better when Disaster Strikes

September 2023

When disaster strikes and leaves your home in need of repair, we know how upsetting and challenging it can be. Faced with rebuilding your home, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, let alone a silver lining.

However, as the old adage goes ‘from adversity comes opportunity’ and at Allianz we are committed to providing protection that gives customers confidence in tomorrow. This is why we are delighted to be launching Rebuild Better.

‘Rebuild Better’ is an innovative benefit that is also a first-of-its-kind for the Irish insurance market. Through Rebuild Better, we’re empowering home insurance customers, with buildings cover, to build back more sustainably when repairing damage to their homes.

Investing in the future is crucial, and with this new benefit, you can do just that. Rebuild Better offers customers with eligible policies an additional €5,000 on buildings claims of €50,000 or more to invest in sustainable, energy-efficient upgrades to their homes as part of their reconstruction process.

Rebuild Better is available to all new and existing home insurance customers with buildings cover. The extra capital given to customers will provide an additional boost to SEAI grants already available to consumers and allows them to choose from a wide range of energy upgrades including heat pump installation, PV solar panels, and attic and wall insulation.

Claims eligible for Rebuild Better include, but are not limited to, losses due to incidents such as burst water pipes, fires, floods, storms, and subsidence under the premises section of the policy.

Customers who avail of Rebuild Better as part of their claim will require a registered SEAI contractor to execute the energy improvements once approval is obtained through the SEAI website and the grant is received.
At Allianz, we believe that to build a more secure future, together we must build a more sustainable one. Rebuild Better is just one part of our commitment to building a more sustainable, secure future for customers by pioneering innovative, home-grown solutions to meet their needs. Earlier this year, we launched our  Climate Safe Homes initiative to help futureproof Irish houses. By investing €1 million in the project and bringing together experts from across construction, engineering, and architecture to develop a new home building model designed specifically to withstand the effects of Ireland’s changing climate.
