Updating your driver number is easy

Due to a change in Road Traffic Legislation, we now need the driver number on file for all main and named drivers on all car and van insurance policies.
From December, without this number you won’t be able to renew your insurance policy with Allianz or any other provider.
So it’s important to update this information now.
Due to a change in Road Traffic Legislation, we now need the driver number on file for all main and named drivers on all car and van insurance policies. From the 1st of December 2024 this will become a legal requirement for all insurers. All insurers will then be required to share driver numbers with the relevant authorities. It’s important to get this information to us as soon as possible to avoid any issues at your next renewal.
From the 1st of December 2024 all insurers in Ireland will be unable to insure any driver on a new or renewed policy without having their driver number. From this date it will become a legal requirement for all insurers to share driver numbers with the required authorities in Ireland.

You can update your driver number and any named driver through our online portal here.

You just need to input your policy number, registration number and date of birth to access the portal.

If you have more than four drivers on your policy, you will be unable to update your details through the portal.

Please call us on 01 448 4848 to do so.

If you’re unable to use the system for any other reason, just call 01 448 4848.

Without this information we won’t be able to renew your insurance policy from 1st December 2024 so its very important that you update your details as soon as possible.

On an Irish driving licence, it’s the 9 digit number that appears in field 4d on your plastic card driving licence,

or under field 5 of your paper driving licence.

The requirement is slightly different, we still require your or your named drivers driver number but we need a copy of the licence to validate it too.

You can send us a picture of your licence front and back through your MyAllianz account, by selecting the option send us a document.

This is because we are required to carry out a manual validation of licences from outside of Ireland.
