Our most Frequently Asked Questions about Allianz Schools Insurance.
  • No there is no cost, the leak detection kit will be provided free of charge & the registered engineer will install the kit at no cost. 
No, there are no ongoing fees for the maintenance or monitoring of the leak detection system.
Your school is insured with Allianz & we are rolling out a pilot of this free feature to schools that are insured with us.
The kit will identify water leaks in their early stages, allowing you to cut/stop the flow of water, preventing extensive water damage.
The leak detection kit will be able to detect a sudden loss of water, usually because of a burst water pipe. Over time it will also detect smaller leak by way of smart features. 
The kit will be installed at the point of water intake, where the water enters the water tank of your school.
Yes, the system can identify the differences between minor and major leaks as the system uses AI to predict the usual demand of water flow. 
An engineer will attend the site, they will cut the water feed for approximately an hour whilst they install the unit. Once complete the water is turned back on and the engineer will configure the unit.
Water will have to be turned off for approximately one hour.

Apart from access to the water pipes, there are no special requirements for installation.
Alarms can be raised by SMS/Email/App notification.
The system is ‘smart’ / AI driven system and as a result, no human monitoring is required. 
While the installed unit will automatically shut off water at the point the unit is installed, we would still recommend you turn off the flow of water at source and contact your plumber to fix the water leak.
If required, the engineer can help a contact person in the school set up the app on their phone.

The installation of a leak detection kit will have no impact on the cover provided by your insurance policy.  Early intervention reduces repair costs and insurance claims, potentially providing long-term savings. 
Yes, the form is available in the email sent to your school from leakdetection@allianz.ie to opt in.
There is a 2-year warranty on the device.
