Yes, you can add a driver over 23 years of age to your policy temporarily providing they are claims/convictions free and hold a full driving licence. The cost to add a temporary additional driver is €38 per week or part thereof.
Your named driver will need a full licence and be accident, claim and conviction free for the last 5 years.
The van insurance cover is restricted to those named on the policy, including the policyholder. Open driving option (explanation provided below) is available but must be specifically requested.
Open Driving is an optional cover which allows other drivers to drive your van as long as they are over 25 and under 70. This option is available if you are aged 25 or older and have at least 1 year no claim bonus and you have not had any convictions* or disqualifications arising from a motoring offence within the past 5 years, other than spent convictions (*Any convictions spent under the Criminal Justice (Spent Convictions and Certain Disclosures) Act 2016 do not need to be disclosed.
Open driving covers anyone within the specified age range to drive the insured van provided they:
- Hold a clean full license;
- Are free from claims.
